Teen Forward & More
Teen Forward helps teens, young adults, and parents navigate adolescence and young adulthood with a focus on awareness, alignment, and agency. Teens move through the world with confidence and clarity, and parents sleep better at night trusting that their teens are strong self-advocates, are resilient and are action-oriented.
Myka K. Hanson, Ph.D. has been working with teens and young adults for thirty years in a variety of ways from counseling at summer camp as a college student to teaching English/Communications at Prior Lake High School to bringing dream work to at-risk teens in the last few years while working on her doctorate.
Dr. Hanson earned her doctorate in Depth Psychology and Somatic Studies in July of 2021. Depth Psychology is the study of the unconscious, and Somatic Studies is the study of how to privilege the body in a culture that often privileges the mind. Bringing the two together, along with her Dream Tending education, allows Dr. Hanson to live an embodied life in which dream figures, psyche, and the imagination are front and center.
When not working with teens, Dr. Hanson stays busy with her own family that consists of her husband, two stepdaughters, and three dogs. Whether she's watching X-Files, painting, or writing inside or gardening, hammocking, or reading outside, Dr. Hanson cherishes this life experience.
